Paraguay residency and tax ID for an internationally mobile founder
A founder running an existing US LLC while travelling had no recognised tax home. We coordinated Paraguayan residency, the cédula and the RUC tax ID with licensed local partners, then prepared the file for bank introductions.

The challenge
Banks and payment providers increasingly asked for proof of tax residency, and the founder had none to show.
A US LLC owned by a non-resident is usually a pass-through for tax purposes, so how its profits are treated depends on where the owner is tax resident.
The founder wanted to keep travelling and needed a residency with light ongoing presence requirements.
Without a clear tax home, a former home country could argue that the founder had never really left.
Our approach
A planning survey and a strategy call to map where the founder actually spends time, where the income comes from and what a good result looks like.
A written options memo comparing three models: a mobile residency (Paraguay), a hybrid European base and a fully structured EU base, with the trade-offs of each. The founder chose Paraguay.
A document checklist (apostilled birth certificate, police clearance and civil-status records), with checks on address consistency, passport validity and travel history before anything was booked.
A preliminary document check before flights, then an in-country visit coordinated with a licensed local partner: migration office submission, biometrics and a power of attorney so the remaining steps could run without further appointments.
Once the cédula was confirmed, the RUC tax registration. An introduction to an independent local accountant was offered for any ongoing filings.
A banking file built on the new residency and tax ID, for introductions to institutions in the network that accept Paraguayan residents. Tax questions went to qualified advisers; Redomiciled does not give tax advice.
The outcome
Residency application filed during a single visit, with local professionals completing the remaining steps under the power of attorney.
Cédula and residency documents delivered by courier, followed by the RUC registration.
A documented tax residency the founder can show in the due diligence of banks and payment providers.
Bank introductions prepared on that basis; account approval remained with each institution.
A clear rule for the future: the setup only holds if the founder stays genuinely mobile and does not build stronger ties elsewhere.
General information, not legal or tax advice. Approval always rests with the institution or authority.
