Overview
Grenada sits in the middle of the regional price range and is often chosen for two reasons: the fund contribution is the same for a single applicant and a family of four, and Grenadian citizens are eligible for the US E-2 treaty investor visa. That second advantage has narrowed. Since December 2022, US law requires anyone who acquired treaty nationality through investment to have been domiciled in the treaty country for three continuous years before applying.
The current prices date from 1 July 2024, when the five Eastern Caribbean programmes adopted a common minimum of USD 200,000 and Grenada raised the share price in approved real estate projects to USD 270,000. Since November 2025 applicants must also sign a notarised attestation that the investment comes from their own resources and prove that the money moved directly from their account.
A residence requirement is on its way. Grenada's 2026 amendment bill requires new citizens and their dependants to spend 30 days in the country during the first five years, with at least five days each in the first year, and limits first passports to five years until compliance is certified. In Circular No. 2 of 2026 the IMA said the rule, scheduled for 31 August 2026, will not start until the regional regulator operates and all five states agree a date.
Grenada is not among the countries restricted by the December 2025 US proclamation. Like its neighbours, it received a European Commission request in June 2026 to phase out its programme by 1 June 2028 under the EU's revised visa suspension mechanism; the five governments are negotiating together, and Schengen short stays remain visa-free for now.
Applications reach the agency only through an authorised international marketing agent working with a licensed local agent, and independent lawyers should advise on the legal and tax side; Redomiciled helps you test whether Grenada fits your plans.
Grenada citizenship by investment
Grenadian citizenship by investment is a discretionary grant of citizenship by the Minister, on the recommendation of the Citizenship by Investment Committee, after due diligence and an interview. In 2026 qualifying investments are a USD 235,000 National Transformation Fund contribution or an approved real estate project from USD 270,000.
The National Transformation Fund takes a one-time contribution, paid only through an authorised local agent. USD 235,000 covers a single applicant, a couple or a family of four; siblings, and parents or grandparents aged 55 or under, fall outside that price. Larger families pay USD 25,000 or USD 50,000 for each further dependant, depending on category, and USD 75,000 for each sibling.
Approved real estate means a unit in a project the Minister has approved and gazetted, mostly hotels, resorts and villas. The minimum is USD 350,000 for a whole unit or USD 270,000 per share in an approved tourism project, and the investment must be held for five years. Since 10 November 2025 every investor signs a notarised attestation and shows a bank debit advice proving the funds went straight to the developer or government account.
The interview is mandatory and held online. The IMA states approval within 60 business days of submission and offers no expedited service.
Under the 2026 bill, new citizens must spend 30 days in Grenada over the first five years, each named person at least five days in the first twelve months, and take part in an integration programme. First passports would run for five years, renewable for ten only once compliance is certified. Commencement is on hold, but the bill lets the Minister apply the rule to pending files.
Grenada accepts dual citizenship, yet the country whose passport you hold today may treat a voluntary second nationality as grounds for loss of its own, so check first. Licensed local agents submit the file, and qualified lawyers should advise you on the legal and tax consequences.

Tax notes
- Grenada taxes residents under its own income tax law; becoming a citizen without living there does not make you a Grenadian tax resident.
- Your current country continues to tax you while you remain resident there, and US citizens stay taxable in the United States wherever they live.
- An E-2 visa is an immigration status, not a tax status: time spent in the United States can create US tax residence. Get advice before moving.
General information, not tax advice. Your position depends on your circumstances.
Banking fit
- Banks accept a Grenadian passport as identity but will still ask for proof of address and tax residence elsewhere.
- If you plan an E-2 business, expect the US bank to examine both your domicile history and the source of the investment.
Questions
How much does Grenada citizenship by investment cost in 2026?
The fund route is USD 235,000 for a single applicant or a family of up to four. Approved real estate starts at USD 270,000 per share, or USD 350,000 for a whole unit.
Can my family be included?
Yes. A spouse, children, parents, grandparents and siblings who depend on you can be included. The fund price covers up to four people; further dependants cost extra, and siblings are priced separately. Your agent confirms the age conditions for each category.
Does Grenada citizenship give access to the US E-2 visa?
Grenada has an E-2 treaty with the United States, but people who obtained Grenadian nationality through investment must first have been domiciled in Grenada for three continuous years. The E-2 also has its own investment and business requirements.
Is there a residence requirement in Grenada?
Not yet in force. The 2026 bill sets 30 days over the first five years, with at least five days per person in year one. The IMA has deferred the start until the regional regulator operates, and the Minister may apply it to pending files.
How long does the Grenada application take?
The IMA states that applications are approved within 60 business days of submission, subject to satisfactory due diligence and receipt of funds. Preparing documents beforehand and issuing passports afterwards add time.

No partner institution in our network is based here; companies and residents here are introduced to partners in other jurisdictions.
- Redomiciled has no partner banks in Grenada; Grenadian citizenship is usually a factor in banking elsewhere rather than a reason to bank locally.
- Banks will still ask where you live, where you pay tax and how the money was made. A Grenadian passport answers none of those questions on its own.
- For accounts, begin with the banking assessment before you choose a citizenship route.
Questions
Who decides Grenada citizenship applications?
The Citizenship by Investment Committee reviews each file after due diligence and recommends a decision; the Minister responsible for citizenship approves or refuses it. The Investment Migration Agency administers the programme and licenses the agents.
Can I get permanent residence instead of citizenship?
Under the fund route, yes. Applicants may first apply for permanent residence and apply for citizenship at a later stage, always through an authorised local agent.
Is Grenada affected by the US travel restrictions?
Grenada is not on the December 2025 US proclamation. Its nationals still need US visas, and a separate pause on immigrant visas that also covered Grenada ended by court order on 21 August 2026.
