Saint Lucia citizenship by investment
Saint Lucian citizenship by investment is granted by the Citizenship by Investment Board after law-enforcement and third-party due diligence and an interview. In 2026 the qualifying investments are a USD 240,000 National Economic Fund contribution, USD 300,000 in non-interest-bearing government bonds held for five years, approved real estate or an approved enterprise project.
Updated
The National Economic Fund contribution is USD 240,000 for an applicant with up to three dependants, plus USD 10,000 for each further dependant under 18 and USD 20,000 for each one over 18. Citizens can add family members later: a spouse for USD 35,000, a newborn for USD 5,000 and other qualifying dependants for USD 25,000 each.
The National Action Bond route needs USD 300,000 in non-interest-bearing bonds, registered in the applicant's name for five years from issue, whatever the family size. Real estate covers units in already-approved projects from USD 300,000 and, since March 2026, finished apartments or villas from USD 500,000, each held for at least five years. Enterprise projects approved by Cabinet start at USD 250,000; stand-alone enterprises need USD 3,500,000 and at least three permanent jobs.
The Unit vets applicants through law enforcement and independent firms, can start law-enforcement checks before the full file arrives, and has interviewed main applicants since 4 September 2023. After approval, the investment is due within 90 days.
Every applicant now swears an affidavit declaring at least USD 350,000 in financial resources, and from 1 January 2026 applicants and dependants must meet residency and genuine-link requirements set by regulation. The Board may approve no more than 1,500 applications a year.
Saint Lucia permits dual citizenship, but your present country might not, and some revoke nationality when a citizen naturalises elsewhere; check that first. Licensed authorised agents handle the submission, and independent lawyers advise on the legal and tax side.
Who it suits
Capital-conscious investors
You prefer to hold government bonds for five years rather than make a pure contribution.
Families with young adults
Children up to 30 who are fully supported, parents over 55 and minor siblings can join.
Buyers of finished property
You want an existing apartment or villa rather than an off-plan unit.
Applicants who do not rely on UK visa-free travel
You already hold UK access or rarely travel there, so the 2026 visa requirement matters less.

Tax notes
- Saint Lucia taxes residents on income; holding its citizenship without living there does not make you resident for tax purposes.
- The country you live in now keeps its taxing rights under its own rules, and US persons stay taxable in the United States after any naturalisation abroad.
- The bond route locks capital for five years without interest; inflation and currency movements are its real cost, which a tax or financial adviser can quantify for you.
General information, not tax advice. Your position depends on your circumstances.
Banking fit
- Banks may ask Saint Lucian investor citizens for the same financial-resources affidavit and source-of-funds evidence submitted to the Unit.
- CRS reporting follows tax residence, so the passport changes nothing about where your accounts are reported.
Questions
What is the cheapest route to Saint Lucia citizenship in 2026?
The National Economic Fund at USD 240,000 for an applicant with up to three dependants. The bond route costs more upfront, USD 300,000, but the bonds are held rather than spent.
How does the Saint Lucia government bond option work?
You buy USD 300,000 of non-interest-bearing National Action Bonds, registered in your name for five years from issue. The family size does not change the bond amount.
Can my family be included?
Yes. A spouse, children aged 21 or below, children up to 30 who are fully supported, parents over 55 who are fully supported, unmarried siblings under 18 with parental consent and dependants of any age with a disability can join.
Do Saint Lucian citizens need a visa for the UK?
Yes. Since 5 March 2026 Saint Lucian nationals need a visit visa and can no longer use the UK's electronic travel authorisation. The UK cited asylum claims and concerns about the citizenship by investment programme.
How long does the Saint Lucia application take?
The CIP states about 90 days from acceptance for processing to the grant. Our internal notes from April 2026 record nine to twelve months in practice, so plan conservatively and keep the file complete.
