Why Uruguay is Latin America's Switzerland: The Safest Banking Hub
Why Uruguay is called the Switzerland of Latin America: the most stable banking system in the region, where wealthy Latin Americans and expats park their money.
Transcript excerpt
This is why Uruguay is called the Switzerland of Latin America. Countries like Panama and Paraguay are very known offshore jurisdictions in the Latin America region, but their banking systems are actually very unstable. Therefore, you see both wealthy Latin Americans as well as wealthy expats are parking their money in Uruguayan banks. That's because Uruguay is actually considered the most stable banking system in the region, and there are actually a lot of banks in Uruguay that partner with high-end jurisdictions like Switzerland for holding their reserves. This is why when clients come to us and they want to structure in other Latin American countries, we typically place parts of their private banking into Uruguay.
